Please do not use feeding tubes to collect urine on your babies! Most brands of feeding tubes you see are closed tip which means, when clinicians use them off label to collect urine, they have to push them in further than you would with a true open tip urinary collection catheter. pushing a feeding tube too far in to an infant’s bladder can lead to it knotting inside the bladder and needing surgical removal, not to mention the off label use of a medical device.
